Brewing Instructions for Maximum Flavor and Nutrition

While you may choose to brew as a typical loose leaf tea, to unlock the full nutrient potential of MediciTeas, longer brewing is recommended  as these herbs and fruits have tough cell walls or dense structures that require heat and time to release their beneficial compounds.

Recommended Method for Maximum Nutrient Extraction:

1. Bring water in a pot to boil,  then reduce to a gentle simmer.

2. Add 1–2 teaspoons of herbs per 8 oz of water. (I prefer to make larger batches and keep in the refrigerator as a daily beverage)

3. Ideal Simmering Times:

🌿 Green Tea En Shi Yu Lu: Clarity + Immunity. 15-20 minutes. Hibiscus infusions release their antioxidants, vitamin C, and anthocyanins relatively quickly, but a slightly longer steep enhances flavour. Nettle leaves release minerals (iron, magnesium, calcium) and anti-inflammatory compounds best with a longer simmer.

🌹 Puerh Blend: Digestion + Stress Relief. 20–30 minutes. Rose hips are dense and require a longer simmer to extract their high levels of vitamin C and bioflavonoids.

🍊 Earl Grey Blend: Detox + Anti-Aging. 20–30 minutes. Roots like dandelion need time to release their minerals, inulin, and detoxifying compounds.

💜 Black Keemun + Elderberry: Immunity + Heart Health.  20–30 minutes. Elderberries and milk thistle seeds require extended heat to release immune-boosting flavonoids and anthocyanins effectively.

💤Sweet Dreams Herbal: Calm + Sleep. 10–15 minutes. This time is ideal for extracting the calming properties of valerian and passionflower while preserving the flavour of chamomile and lemon verbena.

4. Cover the Pot Always cover your tea while brewing to lock in volatile oils and aromatic compounds for the best flavour and benefits.

5. Strain and Enjoy: Pour the tea through a fine strainer or cheesecloth.

By simmering for the appropriate time, you ensure your tea becomes a powerhouse of nutrients and wellness!
